Blayne here from Cloverdale, CA. Joined to learn from fellow Square Body members and share stories. My truck is a 1983 K10 Silverado Stepside Shortbed. Father bought it new in Carlsbad, NM June 1, 1983. Stepmom gave me the truck at beginning of 2003 with 92k on the clock after sitting in her garage for about 12 years. I didn’t even know she had the truck until she called to see if I wanted it. I got lucky.
The truck didn’t run after sitting for so long, it had bad ECM and I replaced the valve seals. The truck only lived in NM, NV and AZ, no rust. In 2010 I installed a mild 383 stroker, replaced the original 700R4 with a Bowtie Overdrives 700R4 Level 3 K-Case and replaced the 308s with 373s. To me it still feels about the same as it did back in 1983, just a little more power.
Truck looks pretty close to stock on outside and bone stock under the hood for CA registration purposes.
