Thanks for the comments. We’ve got the truck torn down and getting ready to start putting it back together. Trying to figure out what gear ratio it is. The stamp on the passenger side axel tube is
PH 145W92 W (I think). It also has GM83 on the drivers side flange. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome. Get the mechanicals in order to make it reliable, then if it has A/C get it working. You're gonna need it in Clovis.

Fat Jack's was one of my favorite places to go when visiting Fresno/Clovis area.
Thanks! Fat Jacks actually just closed out of no where. Very sad, it was a great place.

Trying to figure out what gear ratio it is.

You can't always rely on the tube stampings. The gears may have been changed over the years. If you truck was like my '79 K15 the gears are probably 3.07/3.08's.

The easiest way is to pull the diff cover off and read the ring gear. It's stamped on it like the photo below. Here you see the GM part number 3862526, next is the gear ratio "10 41". The "3 70" here is the date of manufacture. This one is for a 70 Chevelle. 10-41 is a 4.10 gear ratio, 41 divided by 10= 4.10. 11-41 would be 3.73, etc.

If it had the SPID label in the glovebox or on the fenderwell you can post a picture of that and we can help you out from there as well. It won't tell you for sure what is in there now, but it will tell you what it originally had from the factory.

Good looking truck. I'm sure the young man in the photo is already a happy camper, will be ecstatic once he's rolling down the road. Just make sure it's got a center seat belt for the young ladies, assuming he's as intelligent as the photo indicates, and wants a bench seat!
