I'd get an alignment bore with a torque plate and deck the block and heads, cross drill and chamfer the oil passages on the crank, shot peen the rods, new pistons, rings and cam, new pushrods and rockers, re-do the valve seats, new oil pump and port match the intake and heads, grind out all of the casting flash and smooth out the exhaust ports, hot tank everything and full assembly balance. Not necessarily in that order; and do a lot of the work yourself and you'll come out a lot less than $1500.

Very nize lookin' truck!
Keep us posted with your progress and satisfy our jones with pix.

Sorry it's been so long. but here's a quick update..

Finished the rebuild. Went alum. heads and intake.. full custom dual exhaust. Little bit of cam upgrade. 4'' lift all new front end. new to me but used wheels and tires. I've been kind of at a standstill with this truck.. I lost the family barn that I was storing this truck at. Now I'm undecided to keep going with it, or put that money away to buy/build my own barn to work on the next one.

Here's some pictures of where I am at with the truck now.

That's a nice clean truck to work with. Gotta love working on a vehicle where the fasteners come apart without the blue tipped wrench! lol!

If you want to keep the block but the .030 to .060 overbore won't clean up that cylinder, you could always sleave that cylinder. At least you'd be saving the original block.
But I agree with donnieray, by the looks of the pic, it should simply clean up with an .030 overbore.

Up in NW around Napoleon..

Grille is custom rattle can coated. haha..

And thanks. I did all of the suspension and wrenching with a hand ratchet.. no heat wrenches.

I am thinking about parting ways with this truck however.. life and time have shifted focus a bit.

Well, based on the pictures, you have a very desirable and valuable truck. Even more so being located smack in the middle of the rust belt!
Given the condition of ....everything, including the original interior, I would maximize the value and invest in painting it before selling.
It’ll fetch great money as is. I predict it’ll fetch more than you’d spend on a seemingly easy paint job if the paint and body looked as good as the rest of the truck.

Only downside to paint is it appears the truck may not have originally been white. However whoever painted it looks to have done a good job with doors, door jambs, firewall etc.
Changing back to the original color would be considerably more difficult and costly.
I’d scuff sand fix the dings and holes, remove the trim remove the strange black paint or bed liner and have Maaco turn it shiny white and advertise it as restored.

Very nice looking truck. Amazing condition for a "rustbelt" vehicle. Please give the forum members first crack at it if you decide to build your barn. Are you planning on a new square body when/if this one is gone?
