That wasn't a rare combo at all when it was new. By that time though, yes the 3 on the tree was not nearly as common as previous years. But still not rare.

However, that is a rare combo these days. Most of those were work trucks that got used for all they were worth and have been junked long ago. It's a neat thing to see now.

Automatics far outsold manuals during that time. Chevy was the last holdout to have a 3 speed on the column. Ford had quit in 1985 and Dodge 1982.

The SM465 was far more popular and there were probably more A833s sold than the standard 3 speed Saginaw.

Welcome from the Texas Panhandle.
That's a good lookin truck. I didn't know they offered 4 barrels on a 6 banger.
GM pretty much put the quadrajet on everything at that point in time, which is the beauty of it being a variable CFM carb they were put in 231 Buick V6's to 500ci Cadillac engines so there is one for almost any displacement out there.
