I have a 87 R10 with 305 TBI. it has 126,000 original miles on it. Problem just started. Gauge shows its overheating, but I don't think it is. I've changed gauge, sending unit, t-stat 3 times, I've burped the system several times. Gauge still slowly goes up to 260 then back to 210. Back and forth. I've been working on my own vehicles since 1968 (in the last century) so I'm a little bit mechanically inclined. Joined this forum to maybe figure out what my problem is. I'm pulling what hair I have left out over this issue.

Might get yourself an infrared temp sensor and take some readings. Near the sending unit and also on the radiator. The sending unit and the guage from the factory had a matched profile resistance to ground. Getting this right now is difficult after parts have been changed out over the life of the truck. Maybe someone with a better understand of it can explain it better. There are threads about this also.

What part of Mo? My guesses would be out by KC or closer to Springfield, Branson or the Ozarks.
I'm just south of Fredericktown, out side of town, but right above Cherokee Pass.

Sorry to take so long to answer, haven't been on here for a few days. I'm about 30 miles South East of KC out by Lone Jack, between Grain Valley and Lone Jack outside of town.
