Hey everyone. New to the site, and square bodies in general. Bought my first one this past weekend. Here are a couple pictures. I'm sure I'm going to be doing lots of searching in the near future for fixes to small issues I have. Here is some info, pictures, and some of the issues I'm trying to resolve.
Southwest vehicle. Has small amounts of rust in the door jambs.
454, Holley carb, headers
700r4 transmission
4" suspension lift and new shackles and hangers
NP208 transfer case
Original refreshed Dana 60 front 14 bolt rear
ORD crossover steering
Air conditioning
Some of the issues I'm having are:
Fuel guage only reads from slightly below E to just above a 1/4 for the whole tank, left and right.
Guy had the tank selector "fixed" but its reversed, so left is right, right is left. Just going to swap the wires when I get to it.
Voltage guage doesn't work.
If I give the truck too much gas, it backfires. When I got it home I noticed the number 1 plug wire was arcing to the header so I replaced them, but didn't solve the backfiring. Didn't pull plugs yet. Carb was black, sprayed 1/4 a can of carb cleaner (all I had) in there to try and clean it up a bit.
fan doesn't blow any air. Compressor kicks on for AC, but no air moving.
I have a really bad feeling I'm going to be chasing electrical issues on this thing. Hope not, but....
Anyways, here are some pictures. See you around the site!
