Iirc, the blazer (traverquinox) is a unibody front wheel drive based platform. From that article you linked, they're talking about the jimmy being body on frame, and being a competitor to the wrangler and bronco. All good signs. Hopefully, if it comes to fruition, it'll be built in the States instead of Mexico.

I like the idea of it, apparently based off the Colorado ZR2 which imho, is a good thing. But if it really does happen, what kind of focked up world will that be? A Blazer is a little tiny Cute Ute and the Jimmy is real off-road type rig? No sir, I don't like that part of it. They are supposed to be a pair.

As capable as it would be, I don't see it as a competitor to the Wrangler. The Wrangler is solid axles and has one hell of an aftermarket to support them. Many people buy Wranglers with the specific intent to modify them, and even the ones that don't, probably dream about doing so. But the Jimmy would be IFS and lift kits are going to be much more complicated, expensive and also less kits to choose from. For that reason, most people won't modify them or even have the desire to modify them. If people tend not to modify them, there won't be much aftermarket support because the buyers simply won't be there.

I have to disagree about it not being competitive with the jeep. 1 the jeep is massive compared to it's predecessors. 2 most of the people buying the jeep these days are buying it for the image. The people who will actually modify them to increase of road ability are definitely in the minority. 3 as far as lifting an ifs is concerned, there's no shortage of brand new trucks sporting leveling kits in the front end to bring it up. That alone allows for a decent size tire, without going crazy with lift. IF that actually makes it to market, I bet it would fly out of the showrooms.

Yeah, we get it. You don't like anything new. I feel the same way about diesel locomotives. We should have stayed with steam.

I don’t know if you’re being serious, but I agree. If I could do anything where money and location were no object, I’d have been there working on the resto of UP 4014, and to get to drive it all over the place... Talk about a dream come true.
