Hi,
My name is Pat, short for Patricia (please don't call me Patricia, reserved for family - just told so you know I'm a female). I inherited my dad's 84 Chevy Custom C-20, stick shift. I've had it 8 years and have only driven it about 1000 miles at the most. My dad had $2500 of work done on it the summer b4 he died (in Nov).

I had another truck, GMC Sierra, until Feb of this year when I sold it. I bought it just after my dad died to haul stuff from Ohio to my home in Indiana. It was an extended cab with rust in the usual places and an old lady backed into the extended cab like 3 years ago....I didn't get that repaired. It was a good truck but went through 3 fuel pumps when I had it. It ran nice and quiet and drove nice.

Back to the square. As you'll see in the pictures, it doesn't look great but the engine and transmission are great. I just put in a new starter and it starts up so much better. It has it's share of rust but the frame is pretty solid. I'm not sure if my dad did it or it was that way when he got it but it has dual pipes on it. Has a good deep sound. From it sitting so much the driver side muffler has a blowout; I'll fix it temporarily with a piece of sheet metal and 3 clamps :33:. It has a basic interior, rubber floor and vinyl seat covering. Idiot lights for the dash but I just bought and received a dash cluster from Paladin (and he sent me a Haynes Repair Manual as a surprise with it). I plan to just make it good enough but not make it look like it should be stolen (can't find the original keys door locks, only have ignition key).

When my dad died I inherited everything, he lived in Ohio and I lived in Indiana. He had a full garage...FULL, functioning garage (compressor, welder, spot welder, full set of air tools and more). I hauled everything back to Indiana with the help of my VW pal. I have a 2nd garage on my property which I have all that stuff in and can work on stuff.

Anyway, not only do I have a square, I have a vintage 73 VW Beetle, 2 VW Super Beetles (for sale...need lots of work) trailer and a couple of mowers. That's all the riding stuff I have.

I look to learn more on here. I didn't mention my dad was a mechanic on the side so I'm versed in holding flashlights, pumping brakes and all the other stuff. I rebuilt the engine in my VW in 2003 and have done other stuff....if I can read it or watch it on YouTube I can do it.

Thanks for reading.
Pat

Welcome to the forum! I inherited my dad's square when he passed too. I have good plans for a basic upgrade, not veering far from stock but running much better than stock. Hope you stick around, there's a lot of good, helpful folks around here.

Well, hello again Ms. Pat! Was wondering if you were ever going to come out of the shadows. Welcome to the place of misfit toys! The place already seems much brighter with another female here!! Lots of good info and good people here.

Howdy from Ohio!

Chevy truck people often tend to be classic VW people too. My brother in law has a '73 Beetle as well, I restored it for him about 10 years ago. It's kind of stock, but a bit more of a resto-mod I guess you could say.

I love a white truck, and dig the look of that rig with the shell on it. Mine is set up sort of similarly right now, but my camper is a bit taller and much goofier looking. Want to upgrade? It's for sale, haha.

Anyway, love your story and your truck, welcome to the family.
