OK so I found this site while doing some research on a swap I'm doing very soon. I was given a 86 I think its a C20 with a LT9/TH400. I'll be pulling the motor and trans out of the truck to put in a 88 mazda rx7. Right now I know very little about the truck and I'm having a very hard time finding info on it so I'm hoping that someone here can help me out with the questions I'm sure I'll have in the near future.

Weclome Aboard !!!

So you're wanting us to answer questions on how to transplant squarebody parts into a ricer??? I thinking you might not be one of our most popular here???

So what can we do to talk you into keeping the Squarebody??? Is it a major rust bucket or something??? That's about the only way we'd tolerate such a plan but would ever prefer to see the transplant into another square.

davbell should be able to help you out though. He's also anti Squarebody and Pro SMALL engine, so he'd likely be your goto man on this project.

OK so here's the deal. I have the truck which is beat to hell, has 4 flat tires, and lots of rust but it runs. I also have the rx7 which the car is in great shape the only thing it needs is some paint but the transmission is shot and the motor is locked up and thats why I've decided to take on this project because I need to get one of them running soon.

I do plan on keeping the truck and working on it as my next project its just that its going to require a lot more time and money.

As far as what I'm doing with the rotary motor. Well I haven't decided its sitting on a palette wrapped in plastic right now but it will probably be sold or taken to where it belongs the junkyard.

So, I guess doing an exchange for a new rotary is out of the question since it's locked up? Or is that not a deal breaker. I know there's companies that sell 'em fully rebuilt stock config, mildly upgraded, heavily upgraded, and radically upgraded. Can't remember what the cost was looking like.

The reason I'm not going with a new rotary motor is because they are so hard to work with the parts are expensive and can be hard to find. They are also horrible on gas and they eat just as much oil as they do gas, and they are not reliable at all. The chevy v8 is just all around better than the rotary motor, they are a lot less expensive, and you can find parts at any auto parts shop.

Besides, we like American muscle in *** **** anyway. Just sad that a square has to be the donor. :sad72: But, hopefully the square gets rejuvinated someday.
