New door seals, new problems.

Greetings everyone. In the final stages of a restomod project for my dad and a new pain in the ass for me lol. We finally have the new floors finished and sealed. Now the new weather stripping has been is talked to the doors on the interior around the cab, and low and behold, the bottoms of both doors are bulging out a little. Is this just a new seal issue or do I need to raise some hell about misalignment.

This is a pic. I didn't do the traditional supper slam because he's still getting the gaps right but it was closed.

The only adjustment for that is the latches. The seals aren't that stiff. How worn are the door catches?

Worn out hinges don't help either.

The bigger question was how did they sit with the old seals. I'm with Squareroot and prairedrifter on this. It could be any or both issues.

Lots of adjustments still needed before I’d worry about the seals. And, agree the hinges need to be tight and catch properly located.

The striker-latch is somewhat adjustable and might correct that --- but having just done full-rubber on all my windows and doors --- I didn't have that same problem.

But make sure the bushings on the door hinge pins are intact!

I could barely shut the rear doors on my Suburban after installing new gaskets. That was thirteen years ago and they still require a firm hand to close.

Had similar problem with seal fit, 1/2" pex striker fix solved problem.

Yep, the missing pex will also let it sit out too far. As well as a striker thats been missing it, it will physically wear down the striker itself.

Update. I feel it's an alignment issue. He's saying its a can corner issue since we replaced the floors and inner and out rockers and cab corners. Doors are on but just look at the pics. This is the take over mechanic since the original one is recovering from surgery.

The last pic looks like the front of the doors, (hinge side) could be in which pushes the back out at a slight angle, which in turn makes it stick out in the back. When I took off my door, (which fit well,) there were fender/body shims behind the hinge bolts. I have bought lots of stuff from Brothers, and happy with there quality.
