For some bizarre reason, when they moved the wiper switch from the dash onto the column lever in 1984, the headlight knob moved up to roughly where the dash wiper switch used to be. I went through this when I put a newer column into my 1981.

Maybe you can use the old wiper switch location for some other type of switch (fog lights, cargo lighting, etc.). Might take a little fabrication because the hole is pretty big, but it could work.

Measure the hole with some calipers and mock something up in Fusion 360. Then head to your local library and 3d print a cool cover for it

@wildone454 How involved was the rewiring of your wipers when you made the switch? I have an 83 and would like a newer column. Wondering about the wiring.

Headlight switch moved upward in the dash when they went to the wiper controls on the stalk. Only way to do this is buy an '84-up bezel and then you'll have to re-drill a new hole in the dash. Might have to weld up the square for the wiper switch first and then redrill, I'm not sure exactly how far up the switch moved.

I have a newer column in my 83 but I put the entire cab side harness from a newer truck in mine alongside the column.

I think the wiring to the wiper motor is the same as long as you have one with the built in washer pump. So you should be able to splice it together without too much work
