Got my new grille installed this week and it went fairly easy. I needed to transfer some trim pieces from the original grille but the push-in attachment clips were broken. The trim pieces mentioned are the small vertical stainless ones - two on each end of the grille. Can anyone provide a source for these? Thanks, Jim

I believe they are part of the trim pieces. You might have to either order new trim, find some good ones at a bone yard, or improvise & modify your originals.

I am a little confused. Can you post a pic of the part?

I ordered a new grille for my '87 GMC from LMC a few months ago and ordered all of the plastic screw retainers and all new screws from them as well. I don't remember any stainless parts for that grill. Of course the Chevy grill for that year was a bit more elaborate so you may have a part mine didn't need.

I think he’s tAlking about the stainless surround pieces and specifically the pieces outside the headlights. Your truck has them too.
I have to look because it’s been a while since I removed mine (and so close to being ready to reinstall…) but I don’t recall separate clips.

Buying new ones might be the quickest and easiest way to go. We'll see. Thanks.

The Chevy grille has these small vertical trim pieces as well as two larger horizontal trim pieces on both sides of the bowtie. I replaced the grille on a '91 GMC a couple of years ago and you're right, the GMC is all one big item with only the GMC emblem to install. Thanks.

No, there are stainless pieces about 4" long that run vertically on the grille of the '87's. They clip into the main plastic grille.
