Need help, what model of 350 do i have?

What do you mean its a 010 block? What is the casting number for the block. Usually when I think of a 010 block I am referring to the number behind the timing cover and am either referring to the nickel or tin content of the block. If some one swapped in a late 60s block with high nickel it might be a good block for a build if it has not already been machined before. I don't like them as much as the newer vortec blocks but there better than the mid 70s and 80s stuff. If your driving the truck and running pump gas the guy who sold the truck to you lied to you about the compression :( I had a truck once that had 12.5:1 compression and I had to buy my fuel in 55 gallon drums.

New guy here. I recently purchased a 81 GMC stepside. It originally came with a 6 cylinder but the guy I bought it off replaced it with a 350. So tonight I was out in my garage looking for casting numbers and came across 3970010. I get that it’s a common 350 casting number. So I check the pad on the passenger side below the head and find more numbers K10 08 9M. On the lower edge of the pad there’s a slightly bigger 030 stamped on it. Any clues as to what this means? Any help would be great thanks.

The K-M numbers on that pad is called the suffix code. It's the date of manufacture, location, what kind of vehicle the engine was built for, and stuff.
You can look it up on the innerwebz pretty easy if you call it a suffix code. ;)
My 010 is a "TDS" suffix, for example. If your block gets decked, you will lose those numbers in that process so it's best to document them.

010 is the good one. I've heard stories...Chances are better of having the hi nickel and 4 bolt mains I understand.

"Behind the timing cover" aside, look for numbers stamped on the side near the oil filter housing pad dealy.You might find a 10 or a 20 there!
