A set of 4.10s and done lol way cheaper
Gearing the best band aid for lack of HP

THat theory sounds great but I have a tbi engine in my truck and recently jumped from 342 with 33s to 410s with 35s. At low rpm its fine but passing on the interstate is like going from a standard walk to a fast walk while trying not to **** yourself.

He has a C10 prob has 3.42s and not 35s with your combo you probably are the same, maybe a bit better after the swap then with the 3.42/33 combo

My point was an under powered engine with 410s will feel better on the low end, but it will start to fall on its face in the higher RPM.

Agreed but bang for the buck out of the hole it would be fun and after spending 1500 on engine upgrades the highway flyer gears would drag it down.......it just never ends lol

Most racers who build more power in their engine can run a higher (lower numerically) gear ratio for higher top speeds. If it were me in his place, the engine would be addressed first, since typically it's a 30 yr old stock smog engine and really needs some help anyway. After the engine if gears are needed he could mull that over then.
