Hey guys.

I'm having a shift kit put in my th350.
Wanting to also put a TC.
I was looking at a stall around 2500-2800.

Any suggestions to which one to buy and stay away from?
Also should I get a lock-up one or non lock-up?

Motor: 383 stroker with approx. 400 HP.
Lt4 hot cam 218/228 @.050 lift.

Thanks.

The input shaft, pump and valve body are diff, so if you have a lock up 350c then stay with a lockup converter.

Yea that's the cam I have.

Isn't the factory stall around 1800? So is it even worth getting one?

Doing a bit more research and finding out that my fingers are ahead of my brain... You want the stall to be about or right before peak power, so you are probably about right on the stall speed. I'm sorry... I was also thinking stock stall speed being a bit less than 1800 RPM.

Factory stall is usually around 1400-1500 RPM.

Call the folks that made the cam. If they're worth a damn from your ratio and tire size they'll yell ya what you need.

First of all you don't need much higher stall than stock if you are gear'ed , but if not then you are thinking in the right range , (2500 to 2800).

second , IMO I would never buy b&m or tci junk , I would go with turbo action or a continental converter , they are the ****. They make a high stall converter that is tight so it wont stall untill it's flashed so you can drive around like a white guy if you want to and it wont be slipping on the hwy. at 2500 and over heating your trans. And another good thing is you can call them and give them your cubes , cam , weight , trans. , gear ratio , tire size , etc... and they will build you a converter for your application , the only way to go IMO. Totally worth it imo. , and I have had three of them in street/drag car's/truck's and they are bullet proof.
