i'd personally take that as an insult. both are crappy excuses for a "repair manual"

:waytogo: it's all in the name of good natured fun. Neither are meant as insults in any way. Good to see ya again, GreaseDog!

your truck does not have a "low oil light".
your 83 would have it because starting in 1982 GM offered "Electronic Spark Control", an electronically advanced distributor. TBI didn't start until 1987, and no "bastard child 86's" got it... the bastard children occurred as 1987 trucks with carbs.

Yes it does. It's called an idiot light.I have a oil pressure gauge and the idiot light on my truck.

Then why does it have the oil pressure sending unit on the intake mani and the oil sensor on the block above the filter?Makes no sense.

anything under 96 got no vortec heads. As for an oil light have you seen it? Alot of the times it has 2. I've seen many, but most I've seen were on fuel injected motors. You may have an oil light but it's not low oil, it's low oil pressure. The old ladies car has a low oil level light. I think that's what they are talking about. The motor in dad's 84 had 2, one big bulb by the dist. and one down by the oil filter, 2 prong.

Swims and Grease are correct about the ESC system also have knock sensor and is the knock sensor by the starter. And about the oil switch too.

I've never seen Vortec on anything until after 96. All 94 and 95 I seen were TBI. Im sure it was in the planning and designing stages in 94 so there might be a few protoypes.

Ohh, do we talk about V6's on here??? :roflbow:

And you are correct, but was it SFInjected? NOPE. Which you guys did catch me offguard with that one. When I refer to Vortec, which I don't, I refer more to SFI, which is Sequential Fuel Injection. When GM finally got to Multi Port Injected V8 truck motors since they really drug their ass doing so. Fords, and dare I say it, even Fords were MFI in 87 in trucks.

And the Vortec 4.3 was a big pile of ****. Needs a spider injector every year.

I actually wish GM would have done the V6 and small blocks like they did the 454 SFI. A rail down the center with injectors branched off it under the air plenum instead of a spider assembly. For that reason, I think I'd prefer a 454 over 350. But the 350 seems to be a pretty much bullet proof set up too without alot of problems. You're right. The 4.3 has alwasy been the bastard child. Although it has potential with aftermarket parts.
