Mystery bracket

Hi. Does anyone know what this bracket is for? Located on drivers side near rear leaf spring mount on 1978 Silverado. I’m cleaning up the frame to paint and I’m not sure if I need it or not. It isn’t connected to anything and will be a lot easier to cut off than clean around.
