Pretty sure it's for the cruise control module. It doesn't actually physically hold the pedal in place but is the electronic module mounting spot IIRC. throttle on an '84 would be held by a vacuum servo on the firewall side of the carb next to the distributor.I believe it is for the cruise control switch that holds the pedal in place once you set cruise
That’s exactly what it is. Just took all that apart on mine a short time ago.That bracket is for the transmission kick down switch if your truck had a Turbo 400.
