They sound like reasonable answers to the problem, as unfortunate as that may sound.

I guess in some way, i really didnt want to face that reality. It costs more than just playing with bearings or whatever else.

And the axle shafts never crossed my mind until last night

I will look into axle shafts first tonight by simply jacking up the ass and putting it in drive.
If i see nothing, im to conclude its likely i have a permanently damaged gear set.

Guess i'll set those aside for a 1/2 ton mud truck

And install a new set, and keep my truck in a 100 mile radius of any lifts

idk either to be honest, i guess with the big precision ground straight edge we have at the shop, idk how else to check it. lol
im beginning to wonder if thats my issue.... i noticed today, for the first time, since i snapped out of the little place my brain was trapped in, riding slow in the truck, it felt like the truck was riding on tractor tires (over exaggerated) in the rear axle. im kinda wondering now... was that my brain trying to just settle this? or was that real? hard to tell. she sits on AT tires. lol

i think imma jack it up tomorrow and put it in gear and let the tires spin, see if maybe something is janky. im out of ideas... which is why im asking for help from you guys out there in GMSB land
I do like the theory of the bent axle shaft or tube. It seems plausible especially with the *** *** ***

Guess what i found out you freaks?!?!?!??!

Its the driveshaft carrier bearing!

I jacked the back up with my gantry a bit ago, put it in drive, let it shift to 4th, and then i heard this GOD AWFUL noise coming from there.

So there we go.

BUT.
Referring to this pic attached:
(Pic 1)

The rear axle pinion bearing definitely did take some damage during the fall.

But that damage was fixed, and done, a month ago.

The noise i had been hearing following that was the carrier bearing.

(Pic 2 )

Looking back.... now im extra extra extra sure my axlrle gears are set, AND, i have a yukon in the rear. Lol

Woo. What a relief. Now i dont look an idiot anymore!

I removed the shaft and spun the bearing after it was "warmed up" and it felt crunchy
