That would make it 3/4 or 1 ton. What are you trying to fix?

5 or 6 lugs=1/2 ton. 8 lug=3/4 or 1 ton, unless someone has changed out the axles.

After removing the axle shaft, you'll need to remove the spindle lock nuts and retainer. Then you can remove the brake drum from the 14FF diff.

Doing it right. There are slots in the backing plate for shoe wear if that's what you want to know.

The adjuster is often overlooked; good call. I've had these 14FF's and Dana 70's that had trenches in the drums due to years of neglect or no service. Even after backing the adjuster off through the slot, the drum still refuses to detach. I usually leave the wheel and tire bolted to the drum, barely off the floor, and use the tire as leverage to help get the shoes out of the ruts.

If the adjuster isn't stuck can use a small, long straight screwdriver slide the screwdriver over the top of the adjuster and push in. Then using a brake tool or another screwdriver turn the adjuster wheel in to shorten it.

I'm in salisbury!
You're just outside what we call the Triad. I've been through Salisbury many times. It's the home of Food Lion grocery chain stores. There's one of the distribution centers just behind my farm. It's a major employer for the area. Good talking to you, neighbor!
