That's great news !!!

Nice truck. :grd: You need to find you some OEM badging for it though. I see the newer style badging in the OEM position. What trim level is yours? Scottsdale, Silverado or what???

You asked me that and I didn't honestly know because all outside badges were gone when I bought it, but the trim on the inside looks factory and it says it's a Silverado

Power locks and windows?? If so probably is Silverado. I have seen one badged Silverado that didn't though too. How about your RPO code sticker in the glove box? I think those say what trim level it is too.

Scottsdale and Silverado both had carpet too. Some Scotts didn't though I do beleive.
If it turns out to be a Scottsdale, lemme know. You might be interested in these. The speednut pegs are broke off, and they are in Fair to Good condition. You wouldn't want to take the fenders off just to put the speed nuts on anyway, but if you can figure out a way to attatch them... cover the shipping and I'll send them to you to put on my truck.

I've only owned one Scotty, an '84, and it had the rubber mat floor.

Every time I'm trying to vaccuum the sand out of the carpeting in my Suburban I think about that low-maintenance matting.

1. GREAT news on being able to keep the truck Rail! :waytogo:
2. ditto on getting the stock badging on those fenders :D Would look GREAT
3. congrats on getting the truck running :D What a great feeling, eh ?:)
4. Mine's a Scottsdale and it came stock with carpet so it was at least an option:shrug:
5. I believe the power lock/manual window thing is kind of a rare feature isn't it?

The Scottsdale badgnig I have, came off the 84 burnt truck. No pl or pw but it had carpeting insted of matt. Also looks to be OEM carpet too. I could sure live with a matt instead.

Well I looked in the glove box tonight and low and behold it had the RPO codes and unlike todays vehicles it actually says what each one means, lol. The truck is a Silverado, originally had the 6.2 diesel and 4 speed manual, also did come with power locks but no windows, factory AC, fleetside bed, 7.50/16 tires.

So does it still have the hydroboost power brakes instead of Vac boost??? I had a 80GMC that was hydroboost that was the Olds Diesel. The hydroboost unit leaked like crazy, so I was always adding ps fluid. Got sick of that and went to replace the hydroboost unit. WHOA Nelly !!! Like $300 some for a rebuild. No No No, I took a Vac boost off another truck and 30 minutes later the truck was Vac boosted and not more leaks.

Oh, and usually means you have a biggo healthy radiator too and usually dual batteries. You can buy a battery isolator box and run dual batteries, with one of them being a back up for the starter and you should never had starting problem. I did save the battery trays out of that truck cuz I intend to go dual batteries in one of the 4x4's for off-road lights that might run when the truck isn't running.

That's funny, after I got tired of my truck's pathetic brakes I yanked the vac unit and installed a hydroboost system.
