I have a SB 350. Pretty much stock, other than mild cam and an accel super coil. I have recently put on new valve covers (chrome w/ Chevrolet on them, dunno if that matters). Took them of my dads elco. Noticed, where the oil breather cap and pcv valve seat in, there was a whole rubbed in the vent side. Didn't think anything of it. Ever since I have put these on the motor has had more of a vibration to it. Is it possible that they are causing the motor to do so? Possibly causing the rocker arms not to work properly??

The balancer was changed out on 10-05-12. And actually it looks to be running more smooth than its ever been. You know how all older chevy's have got that look on the balancer, like its not balanced right, usually the pulley making it look unbalanced. But like I said its smooth running. Doesn't look at all out of wack.

Prob just have a misfire. Check your wires, you had to move them around to change covers right?

I would replace that vent side. Vents can cause any motor to act up so replace it and see if that fixes it if not you eliminated one possible option.

Yes, I moved the wires around. I checked them all this morning. They were ok. I'm picking up some m/t valve covers today. Gonna change them out and see if it helps. I hope it does. I've been told by 4 different people today, that the valve covers could be causing the valve to float and act like its misfiring. After I get them on, I'll post back up here and let you guys know. Thanks again for the information

Alright, got the new covers on. It helped a million. I did also pull all the plug wires and snapped them back on. All snapped solid like they are supposed to do. I've got some old stock valve covers that I'm gonna cut the tops off of, so the oil doesn't get all over the headers. I'm gonna go ahead and check and adjust the rockers. Just to make sure everything is good. Thank you guys for the info.
