I removed the running 305 and installed a 350 in my 79 c10. Now when I turn the key I have absolutely nothing. I need to do more diagnosis on it but I ran out of time tonight. Question is...will a missing motor to chassis ground cause a dead circuit? Right now i'm making sure battery is fully charged and I checked the grounds.

One ground to alternator bracket "should" be enough to start.

That's what I figured but I had to ask in case I was overthinking it.

X2 - My guess is something got pinched or sheared in there during the swap process causing a short.

Work backwards.

Do you have 12v at the starter? Do you have 12v at the junction block? Do you have 12v at the NSS?

Starter - yes, junction block - no, NSS - no...no wires hooked up at all and it was already like that.
Only power through fuse block is "BAT".

The wiring in this truck has been hacked up so bad I'm going to keep an eye out for a new harness. I ran along the harness from the firewall to the starter and do not see any pinched or sheared wires.

I just want it to run enough to move it around in the yard and driveway right now.

If you don't have power at the NSS, you need a jumper wire in the fuse panel.

Aren't there supposed to be a couple of fuse-able links near the starter, one for lights the other for everything else?

Check the fusible links. Check the heavy red wires at the starter stud or junction block on the firewall. You should have a heavy gauge wire from the negative battery post going to the engine block (preferably) a smaller wire going from the negitive post to the truck body (gender or core support). There is also usually a wire from one of the bellhousing bolts to the firewall.

I found some time and dropped the starter. Broken wire that goes on big post of starter with the battery cable. It turns over now. Thanks
