Well I'm probably just another Michigan man. But I'm not really familiar with forums. And honestly never really been a huge fan of some GM products.
But besides all that, I had an opportunity to pick up a 1981 Suburban Trailering Special with only 67K loaded with rear a/c, cruise,pw,pl,3rd row,5.7L with aTH350 and a 3:73 locking diff and more. The Burb had a fresh paint job, all new doors, has rear cargo, and a brand new Goodwrench 350. After 500 miles of all that nice new stuff the owner said it was too nice to drive so he parked it!
So after 15 years or so of sitting in a barn with the roof leaking on the burb. The price became right in my book. Unfortunately the engine had rust in the cylinders, and the whole interior is destroyed due to mold and moisture. But I am the True second owner of it, and received the original title and sales receipt and more info on it. It was factory rustproofed and that's what saved the frame! So I've got a beautiful shell now.
I was able to revive the paint and stripped the entire interior down. I've got a lot of things in mind as normal for it. And once I get rid of a few vehicles I should have some extra cash for the beast!
I was going back and forth on what to do with the engine.
But with family and friends I have a very good chance of getting a complete donor truck. This donor truck would just happen to have a 6.0L and 4L80 with all computers wiring and low mileage. I've done some research and find a lot of ways to do it. But now I'm wondering if there is a thread of some one swapping an lq4 4L80 into an old 81 burb or similar.
