making the swap! needs advice

hello from cocoa florida! new member here and also new to the square body 87 k10 4x4 i just bought sittin in the yard! questions: it has a 305 turd in it so im buying a 350 crate motor and want to go to an automatic tranny. im needing sugestions...

what tranny?
mod kits?
drive shaft mods?

and also im wondering if my transfer case is a 20-?

You have a 208 case. Heads and intake are TBI specific, 350s use a higher flowing injector but the wiring is plug and play. I take it you have a lift and some bigger tires and might be regearing for them and a TH350 will bolt in where your existing 700R4 is and be much stronger.

how much money are you willing to spending because a 4l80e is the way to go, but in all seriousness a stock 350 can be put infront alot of stock trannys

Welcome to the forum Smessler.
In Your post, You say You "Want to go to an automatic tranny". does Your 87 currently hae a standard transmission installed ?
That is the first question that needs to be answered before a decision about a conversion can be made.
I am not sure about the 208 transfer cases, but, I know that there are differences in the input options of the NP203 and NP205 cases that will not allow a direct transmission install when switching from a manual to an automatic.

sorry for the long delay, own a bakery and we have been slammed for graduation . well found the truck is and 86 (long story), 208 case ,,,it does have a granny 4 speed in it and im looking to go to an auto. since my last post ive all but decided to go with a 383 stroker 385 hp and 405 lbs at 3800.(tuff dawg engines) ..so im still up in the air with trannys....i here people say the th350 is the way to go , then i here a 700r4 will hang with higher hp. talking to a fella from monster trannys saying hes got a 700r4 , th350 or a 4l80e ,built to handle 600 plus hp/trq......thanks for you time and oppinion
