MagnaFlow vs Flowmaster vs Straight Pipes

I thought about that since they are stainless and won't rot out, wonder how good that stuff acts as a sound deadner though??, been trying to figure how I could get my Delta Flow 50's up there but there's just not enough room, I may just try the wrap can't hurt..

I’d use the titanium stuff it’s goldish colored and not cheap but it’s pretty heavy. I had a delta 50s on the Chevelle with a big block and 2.75” pipe it sounded quite good but I used EMT which is thicker the exhaust pipe.

My personal preference is Magnaflow. I have them on my FJ, and my 2500HD, and will put them on my square as well.

My reason for it isn't sound, I generally go quiet when the choice is there. The reason is quality. If you hold a Magnaflow and a Flowmaster in your hand, it's immediately obvious which one is the better muffler. I could beat someone to death with a Magnaflow and it would still be whole, the Flowmaster would just piss them off and split lol.

My Flowmasters generally rotted out in 2-3 years on daily driven vehicles.

Hmmm, didn't think about that stuff, that may just work, thanks.. Is it a lot quieter with EMT??.

My Flowmasters generally rotted out in 2-3 years on daily driven vehicles.

The ones I have now are going on 6yrs old and are on my second truck, there's close to 60,000 miles on them and they still look like they just came out of the box, they are aluminized...

It just has a deeper sound do to the thickness of the pipe. And it’s galvanized inside and out. I used it on the V8 S10 I built and on the Chevelle. The truck has 3” exhaust pipe tho. I had a Borlas on my euro crap lol

I've got Flowmaster Super 44s on the dually. The sound is decent, but drone was bad before I added insulation to the cab. I also installed tailpipes out to the bed corners.

The truck originally had off-brand chambered mufflers that dumped before the axle. That was WAAYYY too loud.

I just put a Gibson system on my '06 5.3 Suburban. That is a nice sounding system. Single in/Dual out. Big round muffler, and a bit quieter than I would prefer but still a nice overall sound. I've debated trying it on the dually for giggles. Might sound better.

I guess I sold both of them a while ago lol the S10 I made a Y pipe and the Chevelan pipe well if you remember the video of me doing a burn out in my garage with the S10 single 40 and 2.75” EMT

No cats here, true duals. No loss of power with the dual 40 series flowmasters. I had Magnaflows....and they SUCKED. I couldn't tear them off fast enough. Unless you want to piss off the general public with tye excessive noise (and rediculous drone in the cab constantly )...have you considered instead of straight pipes.....exhaust cutouts. At least with the electric cutouts, you can run "straight piped" on the open highway and then shut them for a quieter ride in town.

Whatever you decide to install....don't put the mufflers under the cab. Install them under the bed and you won't have to worry as much about the mind numbing exhaust rumble in the cab.

I also recommended installing sound deadening mat under the carpet in the cab. With my sound mat, my cab is quiet, even with my loud exhaust when the pedal is mashed.

With the cats removed, your exhaust will be less restricted and louder by a few decibels. Most reputable shops won't remove the cats (it's a hefty fine if they do). I removed mine and I hauled the truck to my muffler guy. My truck is also registered as a collector vehicle which requires no emissions.

Id love to put exhaust cut outs on my next truck!! I want to put mufflers as far as I can then have dumps on them. Ill definitely do that! soon as I get another truck I'm gonna make sure cats don't exists!!

Completely opinion based, so expect a lot of varying answers. For example, smooth hated his Magnaflows, but I love them on everything I've put them on. Very mellow and quiet when cruising around, but loud when you romp on it. Flowmasters always sounded tinny and "underwater" to me. Never liked them much.

Opinions are like butts, everyone's got one and they are all different. I too like the quieter sound in town and louder out of town.

Also...if you run true dual mufflers no matter the brand, they will be quieter than running two pipes into one muffler with two exits.

Before deciding on the series of Flowmaster and the configuration, my muffler guy test fit several from series 10 (extremely loud), to series 50, to the series 40, both dual and single. The problem I have with the Magna Flows is that they are not a baffled muffler. MagnaFlows are a perferated tube wrapped in fiberglass. I wanted a specific deep tone and the MagnaFlows sounded more like a glass pack. They lacked the deep tone throught the torque curve...but then again like foamy said, its a matter of personal preference.

Id like to hear them in person, audio makes it sound different. I do hate the drone, its very annoying, but its also not too far back.

As far as power no muffler or or a straight through muffler (baffle less) is the way to go but gonna be loud!
And h/x pipes do score a little more power than true duals I watch alot of engine masters love it all these tests have been done on the dyno
