Lowering Shackle with 56" Springs

AS i posted before my 76 needs a complete suspension rebuild. My truck currently has the factory HD 2600LB springs and I plan going down to the 1850lb springs for a better ride. I want to use a 1-2" lowering shackle but not sure I will have to notch the bed like you have to with 52" springs. Anyone know?

I can't confirm because I have not done it but I've been told and read online many times that you don't have to notch anything with 56" springs. I had to notch the bed crossmember on my truck bcuz 52s

Dont know of it's rare it not but mine is a shortbed with the longer springs and I had to notch the bed crossmember

Short bed with HD springs, I looked and notching would be required for the drop shackle. Guessing that would be the least invasive other than swapping the springs out

I forgot to mention mine is a longbed. So hopefully this means no notching the bed.

For my ‘84 Longbed , I did have to notch the bed crossmember when using a 2” lowering shackle.

But do you have 52" or 56" springs? Mine are 56"

Oh I see, yes I have 52” do your spring hangers sit directly below the crossmember?
If not, you should have no issues.

I'll have to check because honestly, I haven't even looked yet. The rebuild isnt a priority at the moment jsut slow gathering parts to rebuild/replace all of it.
