Lowering just the rear of an 84 c10

I'd put big block springs on the front to level it. Plus it won't roll over on corners as much.

Lol maybe. I have reverse sqat, im way low in the front and ass high. I plan on BB coils when i do my 6 lug rotor conversion though

What is factory rake? His looks pretty factory to me.

ok drop shackle it is. once the height is set I will measure for a new shock or get extensions for the stock ones.

If you drop only the rear of the leaf springs, the pinion yoke will be pointed downward a little more, so you might want to consider pinion shims. On my 82 C10 I installed dropped hangers, but not shackles, and had to use 4 degree shims to get the driveline geometry correct.

Also, if not mentioned above, you will have to notch a bed floor support to clear the longer shackles. Something I wouldn't try unless the bed was upside down in my garage.

If you only use a drop shackle you only lower one side of the spring, effectively cutting your drop in half. 2" drop shackle is actually 1" of measured drop.

I have not played with drop shackles in many years but that's how I recall it going down.

Well, most "dropped" shackles raise the rear spring eyelet by 3.5" - 4.0", which equals 1.75" - 2.0" at the axle.

So, 2" dropped shackle actually means 2" at the axle.

That could be the confusion, back when I was using shackles I was lifting - not lowering!

I agree with Bluex just make sure you notch the bed crossmember at rear where hanger goes it will clear sitting but will rub as drive.

I remember those days, when it was popular to jack up cars in the back. And sometimes using longer shackles to compensate for sagging springs. Cheap fixes for kids on a very tight budget!
