Lowered 84 5/8 front lower bump stop. Banging hard over bumps. Any idea

Nope....I'd cut in half or install shorter bump stops. Is the rear notched?

I haven't seen one of those rear window louvers in years! Can those still be bought somewhere?

Try this: drill a bunch of holes through the rubber first.

This makes the bump stop ~softer~, so bottoming is less abrupt. You still hit the bumpstop, but it's a progressive bottoming. It is actually ok to hit soft bumpstops on a regular basis. Think of it as a secondary spring when you need it.

I used to cut bumpstops when I've lowered vehicles. Since cross-drilling them, that's the way I go now.

I've owned this truck for 25 years now. I bought the louvers back until 90s. But I do think I've seen new ones for sale.

I installed a shorter polyurethane bump. The urethane bumpstop that I installed is made by Energy Suspension and it is graduated/tiered. With it being molded this way, you can cut off even amounts making it as short as you need. Polyurethane will hold up longer and wont won't breakdown like the oem rubber stops. I currently have about 3 inches between the upper part of the stop and the control arm. Use a hacksaw to cut down the polyurethane. I also installed polyurethane sway bar mounts as well as rear bumpstops in my mini notch. Replacing the sway bar rubber with polyurethane will also help tighten up the front end.

You can also cut down the height of the front bump mounts and weld in a new top plate, then drill and mount a shorter bump stop as well. The polyurethane units have a mounting bolt imbedded in them.
Btw...I have a 5 front and 7 rear drop, with 20" wheels

Thanks for the picture. Good to know. Does your tires hit the inner fenders
