Low oil pressure in a new motor?

I always thought AutoGage was their budget line. ???
The Autogage is just a plain jane guage nothing fancy so it is cheaper but that's it, the gauge and senders are the same quality as any other style.

im just happy when a vehical has oil pressure generaly if she spins a rod or main she was tired anyhow

BigPoser -- What weight oil are you running? If it's 10W-30 try 10W-40. That will probably keep the hot idle pressure above 10 PSI, while keeping the viscosity low for good oil flow on cold startup.


Running 10W-30. When I'm cruising 60 down the road I'm hovering around 35psi. I do have a 700R4, but don't know my gearing though. I'll have to check out my RPM's when going 60, but I know it's not that high. Falls inline with 7-10psi per 1000 RPM though.

I'd suggest 10w-40 at the next oil change. And if your engine doesn't have a roller cam, then use a good oil with high levels of ZDDP, like Driven HR 10w-40. Not cheap oil, but cheap insurance.
