Love My New Square Stepper in NC

Here's my new addition. It's an '84 2wd that turned 50k miles on the way home. It was an estate truck and the old guys toy from day 1. I'm not a huge fan of the toneau cover and pin striping he added right after taking delivery, but I guess it's period correct and is part of the trucks history. The original paint, interior, trim, etc. are all really nice. The bed actually had a piece of carpet in it and looks like it's never been used. The 305 and OD tranny work flawlessly as well as all the controls. He serviced the AC with a new compressor and lines before I took delivery, so no worries there. I thought about upgrading the sound system, but the original FM and single speaker under the dash (no cracks!) is growing on me. I think I'll keep it the way it is.

In any event, I want to thank the people involved in making this site happen. It's defiinately one of the best out there and I visit often.

Howdy, that's a great looking truck! I don't know if I've ever actually seen a square stepper that color of gold, but I figured it would look good. It does!

Being all original, can you tell me if the wood bed floor is painted or is the wood bare?

When the bed was painted they covered everything. Wood, metal strips, fasteners, etc. It's like they went to Maaco.

I'd love to lower it 2 or 3 inches, but am having trouble deciding on how to do it. I don't want to cut bed supports for shackles, a flip kit is too much drop, etc. I'm starting to think a set of drop leaf springs is the way to go, but also very pricey.

I already put taller and fatter tires on it. Some day I will go with dual exhaust. That's probably it. Just don't want to mess with this one.
