Had a chance to play video eventually. Turned out same to what I ended up using. I also had good luck with closed cell foam backed with mat type material for certain applications

Noico is decent stuff. I've used their butyl products on both the truck and my Camaro. In fact, I just got some more for a door job on the Camaro.

Keep in mind mass-adding materials like this are only needed sparingly. Dynamat etc always show full-coverage applications, but it's really not necessary. Sounddeadenershowdown did a lot of science on this and found that selective use of mat material for deadening "hollow" panels that echo etc is better, uses less material, and adds less weight to the car. See my pic below of what I did on the door. Closed cell foam is useful as a gasket layer, but is not necessarily insulating on its own. The true key to sound deadening is MLV, or mass loaded vinyl. So you selectively layer the butyl/foil material directly on the sheetmetal (only where needed), full coverage with the closed cell foam gasket layer, then full coverage with MLV. I also chose to use mass-backed carpet in the truck. I've got a thread around here somewhere on the job... It works very well. Believe me!

Now, full coverage with the butyl/foil is useful for heat blocking. But again, no need to cover the whole floor for that. I did on the truck, and it was a huge waste. Focus on those areas that need it!

I'm sure it would work but might be kind of expensive unless you had it already. I used a piece of roofing felt/paper for my tank isolating straps. Swung by a house under construction and found some in the trash bin and took it.

I actually have a set of the original GM stuff. Got it on clearance from a seller on feebay maybe 18 months ago for a song. Just figured this stuff might work better.
