This is the second, maybe even third time I've replaced every vacuum cap on my carb.. I've tried a couple different brands, and both have cracked completely, or have tears forming. They barely last a year, especially up north where the temp range is -60 to 110*F.
It finally made sense, how on every truck I've bought, the carbs have had multiple ports with pieces of hose with a bolt shoved in them lol. Now I understand. These caps don't last for crap.
Either I keep searching for a quality brand, or I use hose and try to do that as cleanly as possible. I was thinking maybe shove a slightly oversized ball bearing into a short piece of hose and then maybe seal it and throw some black paint on it? Then shove the hose on the barb.
I haven't had much luck with the silicone type ones either, they usually don't fit well, or you have to force them on and cut them off lol.
Give me some opinions!
