Hi All,

My husband let me buy my dream car....a 1973 Super Cheyenne C10 a year ago. It's in great running condition, and she's prepped and primed for paint. I stripped her down, inside and out, and plan on salvaging what I can and then buying/replacing what I need. Any advice would be welcomed, my husband is NOT into car and I am doing it all myself.

Welcome, looking very good! Don’t throw away anything until you’re done with your project. Lots of oem parts available at the recycling yard and online marketplaces. Peruse them as time permits and if you find something you need, don’t hesitate to purchase or someone else will snap it up.

Welcome from California,

Advice? It sounds like you laid a solid plan by saying you will salvage what you can then replace what you cant. Don't throw away things even if you plan on replacing them at least not until that part of your project is finalized.

For example: I tossed my seatbelts because the rats and mice had chewed them to pieces and the fabric smelled like mouse pee. The aftermarket shoulder belt sets I bought are universal fit junk. I really wish I would have saved the originals & sent them off to be rebuilt, it would have cost the same.

I took over 1500 pics of every area I could as a reassembly cheat sheet down the road. Also kept ALL the old wiring for ends and connectors.....just in case they aren't available new.
