Looks like an excellent start on a successful rebuild!! Only thing I can suggest further depending upon one's individual taste might be some bud.....:smoke2:

Couldn't agree more, though with my experience with it I would just sit there giggling, eating and looking at it not giving narry a f@#k!!

Edit to add. can't afford any bud, barley could the beer. Bought a 100 pound of 7018 when in town. $3.18 a pound for Excalibers!! Went ahead and bought the cheap $1.80 a pound, in 1/8. 5/32's were the same price so got the Lincoln.

Damn, prices on rods sure have shot up. I haven't kept up with the industry lately!:happy160:

Yeah there was but sometimes you just have to settle with what comes along until the good stuff shows up. Hoping that Texas will soon join the Cannabis Train like so many others. Could possibly happen sooner than later now that Abbott needs money for The Wall!!:smoke2:

@wanderinthru,

This is exactly the carb I have on my truck 350 and I have a pretty strong 350. I had a bigger cam in it when it was first rebuilt. and it never "ran out of gas". You know what that means? It's when your acceleration is faster than the carb can deliver gas and the engine falls down real bad or even dies at 5,000 rpm! So long as you stay within 5500-5800 rpm this carb will do all you need it to do. There are a whole range of jets for it and you'll notice it has a "jet plate" in the rear, not another metering body. The metering body is in the front, the primary side. And you can change out the rear jet plate for any size larger or smaller ones. It can deliver quite a bit of horse power with cams all the way through 24x in. - 25x ex. @ .050" and lifts up to just under .500" lift but not .500".

My big cam I was running with it had a .480" lift and it did fine. Also , you have a range of accelerator pumps and cams that you can get for it so it will come on whenever you want it to and accelerate as fast as you want it to. Mine came with a 50cc pump in it and I never needed to change it. It comes on strong right off with no stumble, and you can creep away from a stop sign as slow as you want with no wasted gas.

For a mild 350 this is all you need. They are dead simple, easy to work on, and have plenty of things you can change out to get the level of performance you want. And Holley's don't have no where near the problems Q-jets have. Stay with Holley's and you'll never go wrong!

Oh, makes them run great, huh? Then why is it every carb on the market today either is a Holley or looks like a Holley, NOT a Q-jet. Only that single one carb looks like a Q-jet because there's only that one example for that kind of carb. It's like here's the one example of carbs back in the day the Q-jet, then there's the gigantic market today of every kind of carb known to man that either is a Holley or looks just like a Holley in shape and function!! As a matter of a fact even most injection carbs are either made by Holley or looks like Holley's model. But isn't it strange there's only one single one of a Q-jet and that's the Q-jet, no other carbs look or fuction like it, just that one thing. And it's just that one 'ol tired one. Just sayin'.

Well? I'll be swaping out an Elderbrock, which I have no complaints on how they run. Though once every thing is hot, be damned if I can get one to start with out having to crank on it like a Dodge???
