Little help from the Holley guys please.

What do I have here? Figure its about time to try a Holley, and have this.
Cant find a number, though dont know if its hid somewhere?

On the tall side of the air horn where it says List ( I can barely make it out in the pic) then a # follows that, that will tell you what it is by referencing the holley website.:smoke2:

Holley website says that this is the greatest carb ever made! Was hard to fathom they said that.

What do ya'll suggest, pump it full of gas and see if it leaks? If not, stick it on and see if it works. Or get a rebuild kit and work on it till it is fo sho broke?

1850-2 = Model 4160 600 CFM. :smoke2:

It does have the reputation of being a reliable carb, been in production for a long time. If you plan on using it I would suggest at least a rebuild kit and a good soaking and cleaning with Chem-Dip then blowing out all the passages to make sure they are clear of any blockages since it appears to have been sitting for awhile. Holleys are very easy to rebuild and tune!:smokin:

Yes, like Mike stated you want to reseal it. The old gaskets will not like the oxygenated fuel the government has us use.

If it has phenolic plastic floats, replace them too. Brass floats are probably still fine.

Agreed, throw a kit at it and then run it. If it's been sitting a while, there could be old gunky crystallized fuel in it and stuck or leaking needle and seats.

Looks pretty good on the outside though.

As stated earlier, Holleys are pretty simple and easy to rebuild. Main thing is cleaning all the parts up good and making sure all passages are clear. And as far as tuning, all the constellations in the galaxy don't have to be in perfect alignment with the third moon of Aquarius as required by some of the other carbs out there. To me (JMO) Holleys are a plug and play carb! Below is a pic of one I am currently rebuilding, ready to slap it back together. A 3310-2, 4160 750 CFM. Just finished cleaning it up. :smoke2:

**** can it, Q-Jet swap it!!


It will run ok with a Holley, it takes a Q-Jet to make it run great!!

Seriously, rebuild kits are so cheap for those, it’s pointless to roll the dice on it as is. Not to mention, who knows what has been changed, it would’ve helpful to know what jet abd metering block plate is in it when tuning is required.
