Found some sweet American Racing AR23s that had been in storage for years at a tire shop. They're used, but only slightly. Great shape and I'm happy with the look. The one problem is the push-thru center caps are loose and rattle. Suggestions for some type of spacer material I can put behind the flange to tighten them up?

I also installed some 383 and GM badging I had acquired some time ago but just got around to installing. And painted grill and headlight bezels. Oh and a new hood ornament and parking/turn signal lenses.

Looks good, can you tweak the lip on the inside of the cap that sets against the center of the backside to take up some slack?

This AR cap has 4 "tabs" bent into the flange. Make sure you have 5.15" diameter caps. I had bought some Eagle Alloys off CL a few years ago for a different truck. Those had a slightly smaller diameter than the AR wheels (I believe 4.9").

Sub looks damn good sir.

We have rattling caps on our wheels as well.
I sooo dislike the sound, but junior is used to it and does not want to take all the wheels off to fix them.

As has been said already, it's a great looking rig and just put a few little bends in the cap flanges :waytogo:

Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions. Next on the beautification to-do list: replace some of the body side molding, especially the rear quarter pieces where the chrome strip is pretty much toast.

Yeah, I think I'll try that. Just brought the rig into the tire shop when I swapped rims, so they weren't going to mess around trying to get the caps tight. Just slapped them on. There was a pretty big gap though when I test fit before, and the flanges are pretty small, so we'll see. Might have to get creative.

Yeah, these were billed as 5.15" when I bought them, but they're not ARE brand. I went with these since they're stainless vs chrome and I like the look, but I might regret not paying the $$ for ARE.

Ha, yep. PO put a winch bumper on it but no winch. He even put a heavy duty relay in for the winch, but sold the truck before he got to it. I prefer the look of the stocker, and have thought about going back to one, but it sure is nice to stand on for engine access. (i'm 5'6") I also like the fog light holes and who knows maybe someday I'll put a winch in.

That's a nice color combo. I liked it so much the huge power mirrors blended in for a moment, just for a moment.;)
What's the interior color?

Color combo is one of a kind, too. At least for '91. I think the maroon was black from the factory. Some PO repainted it at some point, seems like it was done by a GM dealer. When I converted the barn doors to tailgate I went to a good auto paint store to get paint matched for it - they were pulling their hair out trying to find that color until they finally figured out it was an Astro Van color!

Interior is just regular old silver. The dark red from those years would be cool, but the common silver is easier to replace stuff. My '90 parts rig from years ago was also silver and the seats are actually from that one.
