Hello everybody, I have a very noobish request. My 85 Sierra is the first SB I have owned so I don't know anything about it :Insane: I need pictures of the DRL on, the low beams, high beams, and turn signals. Also on a side note, the rad support is from an 84 truck with a 5.0, will all the lights bolt up if my engine is the 4.3?

These trucks don't have drl's. The core support depends on headlight arrangements. Either 2 headlights or 4 headlights.

Oh ok. Well the truck has the two rectangular sealed headlights, both turn on in both high and low beam, and the harness has two bulb sockets that are hanging with no housing or anything but are turn signals. I have no idea where they would bolt up to.

There would be housings below the headlights like in this pic.

My Truck

Here is how it is currently, when I turn the light switch on, all of the sealed lights are on, neither top or bottom are turn signals. The turn signals are the two sockets that are hanging in the front. I'm assuming they need a housing, but I don't know where the housing would bolt up to.

When I said two I meant two on each side.

OK. When you turn the lights on, the low beams should illuminate the low beam element in the top set of lights. When you turn the high beams on, the lower set of lights will come on, and the top set will illuminate the high beam element also. So with the high beams all four will be lit. If that isn't how yours is working, first check your grounds, and plug connections to the bulbs for corrosion. when I first brought my '87 home the headlights did all kinds of squirrely things. I had to replace the ground leads on both sides of the harness up by the lights, and also de-pin the plugs and replace the metal contact tabs. I was able to get the contact pins from the local chevy dealer. Your turn signals should be to the inside of the lower set of lights. They appear to be missing.

It goes like this:

Low beams selected - Bottoms off. Only low output filament (35 watt) of top sealed beam is energized.

High beams selected - Bottoms come on (50 watts). Low output filament of top lamp is turned off - high output (50 watt) is turned on.

These images explain better.

Thanks!

Thank you guys this is EXACTLY what I was looking for! :party36:
So by the looks of the pictures it seems my wires may be crossed because when I put low beams, all 4 lamps are on.
Again thank you for the info! Greatly appreciated!

My grill has been modded slightly, figured since there are four headlights, why not four blinkers also! Lol

Definitely unique! I always liked those big rigs all lit up like Christmas trees, why not C/Ks too?

Not to steal the post, but I also have a question about the 4 headlite system. What is the reason/purpose of running relays in the system if all 4 lights come on when on high. My bottom bulbs only has 2 leads going into the bulbs while the top bulbs have 3. I know the 2 lead is for high and the 3 lead is for hi and low. What benefit do you get other than lowering voltage thru the headlite switch
