Through the late 70's and into the 80's I built several bumpers and this is what I learned... the hard way.
When introduced to impact say, 10 mph, a very strong bumper will bend the frame. Full stop.
Don't build indestructible bumpers...

Thats good advice. I never really thought about it, and have definatly built some heavy duty bumpers over the years.

I have been thinking of possibly building some tube prerunner type bumpers.

Here's what came on my K30. It's a FEY replacement step bumper. The '87 C30 has a factory bumper. The '79 K15 had a Reunel bumper.

Here's another idea for a stepside bed. A late 70's early 80 El Camino bumper. The first picture is full width, the second is narrowed.

I'm looking at replacement bumper(s) and was wondering if anybody has found a set that do not have all the bolts running trough them like above from post #51?
I could live with the front having them since it does not need to be replaced at this time but the rear has an 8" drop bumper and that's just not working!

Made mine from scrap. More fun than buying a premade one.

I will get around to making one to match in the rear. All about those approach, and departure angles.
