Plan B.... I found a 1989 K5 body and frame (no axles, transmission, or engine) somewhat close to me and they are only wanting 400 for it. It includes doors too. It's worth that in scrap I'm sure... so I think I'm gonna grab it up even if I don't use it.
My question here is... how compatible is the 1989 to the 1978? How hard would it be to take the good body off the 89 and replace the rusty 78 body?
I swapped a '78 C10 Burb body onto a '85 K10 Burb frame. All the body mounts matched and the light harness plugs matched the fuse box plug in. That's all I can remember right now, that was about 15 years ago. But I did it by myself in a weekend and was daily driving it. Not sure on the '89 in regards to the harness since that gets into TBI.
