Is this radio original?

When I bought my truck, I assumed that the radio was original.

The radio is an AM/FM Mono radio.

I recently realised, though, that it doesn't show up on the build sheet, and it is in a location that I haven't seen any other square body radio in.

It also still uses TUBES.

'74 is a bit late for that isn't it?

It just doesn't look out of place at all though, so I thought it was original.

Have any of you ever seen a radio in this location?

Its a deck from that era. But IMO its not stock. Light Duty trucks radios were all under the HVAC controls. I don't know about Medium Duty trucks though.

Whoever installed it did a great job then.

It is hooked to the in dash speaker, and somebody even went through the trouble of fabricating a factory looking mount as well as one for the amplifier.

It has a rich sound, and you always have to wait for the tubes to warm up.

Looks awesome but not in the stock location. Mind sharing a pic of the dash under the HVAC control? Looks like a gauge is there, am i right?

What's the gauge in the bottom left corner of the pic right under the climate control panel?
That's where the radio should be. At least the only place I've ever seen it from the factory.

If its really a tube radio don't ever get rid of it. That's truly a lost unicorn in today's world.

Its an ammeter that someone installed.

I just did some actual research and found that its a Becker Europa Highway HiFi AM/FM radio that would have came in a mid-50s Mercedes.

Not a period radio, about 20 years older than period.

They actually seem to go for a lot in working condition, but I probably won't sell it since I love how it looks in the truck.

I actually am in class right now, but since my district is ran by a bunch of idiots, I can keep a pretty good GPA while doing basically nothing.

I'm not complaining, but litterially all homework I get is for completion.

I kind of miss real homework, but I have more time to build stuff and make money.

I swear, most of my peers are ****** in the real world.

Depending what model number it is, it could be worth alot more. I pulled one from a 71 Volvo (was not supposed to be there either)....turned out to be the first model with FM and a special order add-on to a Porsche 356. Went for $455 on feebay to some guy in Belgium. Go figure.

I might actually sell it if its worth that much since it does work very well.
