3.42 gears would be simpler and more reliable, lol. I'm biased though, I've killed a few 700's.

Personally, I'd pick up a good core and have a reputable local shop built it with the parts I want in it. Things like dipstick tubes and such can be sourced from many places. From cheap/used to expensive/snazzy.

LOL, to be honest what you should do is go to a wrecking yard and buy one, then buy a master rebuild kit along with a B&M shift kit. If you have some compressed air and basic hand tools you can buy a few other tools, like a pick, and rebuild it fairly easily. There are online resources for buying the improved parts. You might have 800 dollars into your rebuilt trans but you will basically have a better trans than what Monster builds at that point, plus the ability to rebuild it in the future...

Yep, my bad... Trans-go is the go to brand now days. When I last did one it was a TH350 with leftover bits from a B&M kit so I keep saying that out of habit. I'm about to dip into my 4l60E and the NP208 for a rebuild my own self and plan on DIY'ing both of them. The best way to do it is taking a large trash can that has about the same diameter of a 5 gallon bucket that can get it high enough to not be stooping over (I got a bad back). Once you drop the trans on there you just take it apart apart and lay out the pieces section by section in the order you take them out. After that clean all the parts and replace the band and clutches one by one and reassemble opposite. You'll also need a good variety of snap ring pliers but you can get some cheaply enough at HF (for a one time use fee of about 30 bucks, lol)...

Thanks, I wouldn’t even know what is good and what isn’t to go in if I was to go the core route.

Going from 4.11 to 3.42 wouldn’t only drop the rpms what a couple hundred?

I don't recall without a calculator. But it's a good all-around combo that avoids a transmission swap.
