I'm thinking about selling my warn 8274-50. I've had it since new, probably around 2001 or so. But is there a market for used winches? With new 12k winches on the market for $400, with a warranty, do people still buy used winches?

Very much so. Especially the model you have. The cheap 12k winches are generally Chinese crap, preferred by mall crawlers. The real crawler guys like the 8274 for the line speed. If you decide to sell, check out some off road sites for an idea on price.

@bigcountry78 , if you want to sell the winch and period bumper as a package, I may be interested if shipping doesn’t kill the deal.

I sold an 8274 on here years ago. It didn't work, although I never diagnosed what was wrong with it. It went to a member out in Arizona or something. I think it sold for 300 or so too, plus shipping.

Old 8274's regularly sell for $400-$500 "as is" in my area (that's typically with no cable, it might have a remote and it looks like it's been sitting in the woods for a few years).

Well dang, maybe I should sell mine then. It has the original cable, remote, and has been covered it's entire life. It works like new also.

My apologies to Frankenchevy but bigcountry78, never sell it - keep it on your truck.

Where in NC are you? I'm in Charlotte. Depending on price, I might be interested in it. I currently have 4 Warn winches. I sure I could find a use for another.

x2 on keep it I wouldn't sell a 8274 for a cheap Chinese junk winch ever. I don't care if it was rated for 50,000 pounds. highdesertranger
