Even when I rev this thing up into the 3000 RPM range you can see the filter does not even fill up.
I would have thought at high RPM gas would gush out into the filter. The fuel pump has less than 200 miles on it.

Does someone have a filter like this to see if this is normal. I dont want to get stranded LOL.

I have one of those and it is full when running. That little dinky splash coming out of the inlet is not nearly enough. I'm shocked its even running with that amount of fuel coming through. I'd think either bad pump or the fuel pump lobe on the cam is worn off.

It definitely looks like your fuel pump isn't operating properly. I use the exact filter and mine if full when running. Although my filter is before the fuel pump but regardless it's still full.

I removed that fire hazard of a filter because I didn't want to burn ol brown to the ground.
But when it was on there the only time it wasn't full was when it sat for days.

Are the lines clear? Something seems blocked in the to carb line or the return line is plugged up or maybe open causing the pump to not flow correctly. Kinda surprised it kept running.

I am not familiar with that carb. What happens when you disconnect the fuel line at the added filter and crank the engine over into a gas can or something, does it flow better? Any change?

My twenty year old pump fills that same filter on my truck lots better than that.I have it mounted back at the tank.So it pulls that gas thru that filter and quite a ways to get to the carb.

I agree its a fire hazard.....the fuel line from the pump to the carb should be a metal fuel line not rubber to prevent this.

This is it was doing this same thing when I had a demon carb on it. I just put a brawler and its doing the same thing.
Bextreme may be right about the lobe being worn, or the pump shaft.

@Nasty-LSX,

Something you need to check. On the lower left side of the block, down near where the lower radiator hose is there are two 3/8" bolts close together. One of them goes into the hole where the mechanical fuel pump, I may be jumping the gun here, you do have a mechanical fuel pump don't you? If so, there may be crud slowing down or partially jamming your fuel pump rod that rides up and down in the hole for it, where one end of that rod rides on the cam lobe, and the other end sits on the pump arm. One of those bolts, I think the one on the left, or the outer, as in towards the exhaust side of the engine, they are just right there together. The one I'm talking about can be screwed in to hold the pump rod while changing out the fuel pump so the rod won't slide out when you take the pump off.

Anyway, take your pump off and let that rod slide out, if it will slide out. If it doesn't, that could be part of the problem. Sometimes the rods get worn and will do weird things up inside that hole, jam, bend, all kinds of things. Inspect that rod, feel of it, lay it on something flat and look to see if any light is coming from under it as you roll it back and forth, checking for flatness. If it's cool put it up in the hole as far as you can get it and screw that bolt back in until it just touches the rod, just enough to hold it in place. Make sure you can't see it sticking down where it would interfere with the pump arm going back up in the cavity. Tighten all the pump bolts back up, and DON'T FORGET TO LOOSEN THAT BOLT HOLDING THE ROD!! Your pump won't work if you do forget it.

Otherwise you could have a bad pump. And if you have a electric pump in the tank, you didn't say what year truck you had, I always assume people have old trucks but I'm learning most people on here have a '80's truck of some sort. When did they go to electric pumps? If so, disregard this post!!

@Nasty-LSX,
Concerning the pump rod mentioned above, the holding bolt needs to be screwed in so it just touches the rod. Now look at how far out the bolt head is from the block. Double that distance and that's how many washers you need to use to be able to tighten up that bolt and it NOT touch the pump rod and still be tightened up so it won't back out from vibration and you might loose it. So tighten it up against those washers. The other bolt next to the bolt I'm talking about, I don't remember what that bolt goes to, but I know it doesn't go in the pump rod hole because I've delt with it and I know it doesn't.

Moroso makes a light weight pump rod, the one I'm using for racing. Those guys, they are so mindful of weight and what may slow the engine down and take some minute HP that they use that light weight pump rod so it won't take any horse power to push the fuel pump. Eat up with it aren't they.

Thanks Raider L.. I do have the bolt in the block. Its all factory. The fuel pump rod moves with ease. I checked it
when I put the new pump on. Thank you for the info
