My name is Allen and I have an 87 R10 Suburban. I've had it about 15 years and I was fortunate enough to buy it from the original owner who loved it. I have only used it for vacations and trips so it doesn't get used much, but always gets looks going down the road. I've been finally converting it over from R12 to R134 and through my research brought me to this site. I figured it was time to join. I hope I have done this the right way, and if not, sorry in advance.

That’s a great looking Suburban. If you want to bring it to me, I’ll test it out for about ten or fifty years to make sure it’s good enough for you.

Thanks for the welcome and the comments. Yes I have always been an Olds man, but my neighbor had this Suburban, and I watched him baby it for years. When he started riding around with a for-sale sign in the window, how could I not love this baby. It's got over 211K on it and starting to show some rust in the rockers and around rear wheels, but still gets allot of looks out on the road. Best of all, you can even take the kitchen sink with you. Now if I can just get the amount of R134 figured out so I can stay cool this summer.

It's been a few years since my AC worked, but I believe 4.25 lbs was the magic number. With rear AC of course. A heatlthy fan clutch is important for good output at idle.
