First post, can tell this is a great group based on what I have been able to learn so far.

New to me 1984 GMC Sierra Classic! Cleaning up PO wiring issues. Replaced instrument panel lights, found two direct wired lamps with no homes.

Lamp one is brown and tan wire, does not illuminate on key or headlights. I think it is 4x4 direct lamp, but where does it physically go? Am I right?

Second lamp is yellow and pink w/ black stripe. Illuminates under key in start position only.

Still studying wiring diagrams posted here, but have not deciphered it just yet.

I got some ideas for you but not a for sure answer. So based on the one that only comes on when the key is in the start position, I'm betting those are idiot lights. If I had to take a stab I think that the one that comes on when cranking is likely the choke light, the other one?? But there are idiot lights in the bottom of the speedo and fuel gauge. I thought they ran off the printed circuit board but I could be misremembering.

I certainly should have take a picture before, but I think when I pulled the instrument panel one or both of these were in the back of the instrument panel?

However that doesn't make sense as they would not need to draw power from the printed circuit.

So one could be just a footwell light( one with headlights) but the on with key is confusing me.

I guess it's back to the drawings.

I thought they were illumination lights for the spedo. And couldn't figure why they were wired different and did not illuminate with the others, when I turned the light switch on. Between you, SirRobyn0, and CRM, my issue is resolved, thanks.
