Mine gets 4-6 MPG and with the fuel cost averaged out to about $8 a gallon........quit bitching. Lol because I’m not. My square is fun as hell and draws attention no matter where I take it.

I found the best way to improve gm in my square is to drive it downhill. And it didn't cost me a dime.

I had a '75K5 that knocked 14+mpg on the highway and would smoke the **** out of whatever you got...

My secret is 305 heads on a 350, 10:1compression and a 35 year old intake manifold that is lonnnggg since discontinued underneath a Quadrajet that needed rebuilt.

Anything is possible...it's all very well documented within the bounds of this MSB. Matter of fact i'm fixin to top the thread.

Anyway
I drive a company truck at work , a 2017 4wd Chevy

It averages a steady 13 in mixed city and highway driving

My personal vehicle is a 06 4wd expedition , it gets 11.5 city and 16 on the interstate

You didn’t mention your mpg numbers but anything in double digits is good

I used to drive a 97 3/4 ton 4wd suburban and I could never get double digit , highest I ever got was 9.5

Also a lot of people quote their mpg from the dash display on their new vehicle and those are almost always higher than the actual real mpg
No one checks their real mpg , they just look at the computer display that the car manufacturer purposely programmed to lie

Also the axle gear may have been changed at some point
What’s on the glove box sticker may or may not be what’s in there now


Best thing to do is as suggested
Have a compression check done , make sure the carb is tuned right , make sure the ignition components are new and high quality , not the made in China part that’s the cheapest thing at the local chain auto parts store

And the biggest thing is once you get a good tune up done
Remember to thank your congressman for the ethanol crap that’s in the gas

They put 10% ethanol in the gas and it lowers your mpg by way more than 10%

So if your getting 10 mpg using the ethanol crap , you’d Probabaly get getting 11.5 or 12 just by being able to use real gasoline
