Big thanks to 86454k30 for the tip on Offroad Design's upgrade shackle kit for my truck.
Installed in about an hour and the drive difference is night and day!
Truck drives smooth as a dream....well, as smooth as a '77 3/4 ton 4X4 can be I suppose.

Brother, you ever find yourself wandering around the California desert, give me a buzz and the beers are on me!

Gotta be better than that metal on metal suspension you had before. ;)

Have to ask, did you get the truck to match the garage or the garage to match the truck?

How bad were the old ones?

Real bad.
The upper bushing were almost completely gone. The spring was resting on the frame. The ride and noise were terrible. All fixed now for about $100.
Honestly, I can't tell you how much this has improved the ride. The worn bushings just kind of crept up on me real slow over a period of time.

Awesome! Glad it worked. I've had MANY of these trucks and installed 2-6" lifts on all of them, I ALWAYS replace the upper shackle bushing in the front. Badass truck too!

GregL,

I really like your paint scheme, that green and white line looks great together. Now, when you are in the desert do you clime dunes or just running down those rough ass desert trails I've seen on TV?

Also, I'd give my left ball to go to some of those huge wreaking yards out in the Calif. desert I've seen on Motorsports TV channel. The program I watch is these two guys who take these wreaked cars and fix them up some and go racing them. One of the guys names is Frieburger, he used to be the editor of Off Road magazine, and Four Wheeling, I think, the program is "Road"...something. My memory is bad. I love watching them taking these wreaks and throwing some new parts on them and they drive half way across the country and race them. I get emails from Holley and right now they have one of their cars they fixed up contest.

But they are always going out into the desert and they know these guys who own these wreaking yards that have all these great cars and trucks in them. I've always said I'd love to be able to go to one of them one day.

I went back to my email and the program is "Roadkill" with David Freiburger. He's giving away the first car he ever fixed up. A '66 Buick special convertable. It's got a CPP tubular front end on it they put on, new trans., and engine upgrades, and I think they also put in a new rear end to. RThen they drove it to some high end asphalt road course and timed it against a car set up just for that kind of competition and they beat the time with this old wore out Buick.
