I'm new on here and have a few questions.

I'm looking at buying a 1976 k10 Scottsdale that was on a farm and not running. I learned how to drive back in the 70's sitting on my Dad's lap steering a 1973/74 square body we owned so I have a lot of good memories of them. I had a 1980 back in the 90's for a few years but want to get another one. This one has a 400 engine in it, most of my old Chevy's had 350's so are they a good engine? I have a 1970 c/10 and all the info is on a sheet in the glovebox. This one the glove box is missing, is there anywhere else on squarebodys to find build info to verify, if not is there another way to find paint codes and interior trim colors? Also is there anything good or bad about 1976 to look for? It looks mostly complete but has normal rust, dents and wear a farm truck would have. I'm sure it would need fuel system cleaned, brakes, tires, windshield, seats, etc from sitting. Estimated value I should pay? Thanks

Its worth whatever its worth to you.

Check for cracks around the steering box bolts.

I think the SPID (Service Parts identification label) is the only place on the truck to find paint codes. Put up a pick and somebody might know or have the same color combo.

I like the 400 if you're looking to make a performance engine. Depends what you want to accomplish with it. 400's got a little more stroke then a 350. I'd be concerned if its ever been overheated.

Im sure somebody with more knowledge will come around.

Left side wheelwell on mine, build sheets sometimes are also found under the seat. The VIN should carry some information as well. Not sure what it‘s worth, see what others are going for in your area and go from there. Farm trucks have typically had a hard life, not saying it can’t be brought back, it just might entail some extra work.
