Identifying these

PO has done stuff and there are some disconnected wires, cut off wires etc wondering if someone could help identify, I have the cruise control one labeled, some spliced ones inside, i numbered the pics to make it easier if anyone replies to which ever ones. There is one by the starter just broken off and wrapped around and no sure what #5 is. (The ac/heat don’t work and no blowing, and cruise control isn’t hooked up to the vacuum ball that’s why it’s not plugged in under the dash, and all hoses are disconnected from the canister up front (for emissions?)

#3 is the clutch safety switch plug. All trucks have it, even the automatics.
#6 I think? is part of the esc system. SirRobyn0 could tell you from recent experience.

Have you looked at the extensive library of wiring diagrams found on this very site?

Purchase a bag of colored wire ties.
Look at the wiring diagram - mark off each circuit on a sheet of paper.
Deliberate.
Patient.
Persevere.

Sometimes you need to just unhook stuff & see if anything quits working or just follow wires to wherever they go

I've learned recently GM uses some colors regularly for certain tasks, these aren't 100% guaranteed because there are only so many colors to choose from
In the cab:
Orange - constant 12 volts
Orange W/black - switched circuit with constant power (door locks)
Pink - switched 12 volts (Ign./Acc.)
Pink W/black - 12 volt Ign. power circuit specific to sensors, fuel injectors Etc.
Black - Ground
Black W/white - circuit specific or sensor specific ground


Under hood:
Red - constant 12 volts and alternator charge wire
purple - to starter solenoid

1 & 2)
heavy wire with brownish clear insulation appears to tap into the constant hot (orange lead with a factory fuse box tap) and ends in a ball of tape, I cant see what is coming out of the other side to guess what it is powering.

That orange wire it is tapped into is where my electric choke relay was tapped in to my fuse box, yours appears to go up towards the gauge cluster cant tell for sure.

The green-tan-yellow wires going to the plug on the left of column look like your high beam dimmer switch harness. I cant tell if the tan wire going all around that area is tied into it somehow.

Long skinny black plug on the other side of the column is the turn signal, Hazard, horn switch harness

Heavy gauge pink wire tapped into fuse box and ends with a grey plug looks to be fed from the circuit breaker right next to it - power windows is a guess

fuse box tap (Red plug) with orange and black wire is probably power locks.

I'll look more a little later.

IIRC Should have heavy gauge red wire that Y’s between the hot lug on the starter the charge lug on the alternator and the bulkhead connector. I don’t have mine to look at but I was pretty sure there was a few fusible links right there.

Track down the yellow and purple wires to see where they are going, I wonder if that was a bush fix for a burnt fusible link.

Another known issue with some of these older GM’s is the hot leads going into the bulkhead connector burn out inside the connector itself by melting out the copper pin and receptacle. Sometimes people fixed it by drilling through the bulkhead where it’s burnt and pull a wire through.

Thanks! I will check those out as you said and make notes so I don’t lose track. Today I disconnected my cigarette lighter from behind it and my horn fuse didn’t blow out when I tried to turn on my dome light. I saw a post on here I think, that was messing up stuff. I got bulbs on the way to see if the dome and courtesy light actually turn on. I appreciate your time on this!
